Run in fear! The tax man cometh!
It’s that inevitable time of the year again. Taxes are due by April 30th and most people in my major have yet to even think about filing their taxes. And I am in Accounting. But as your T4s and T2202As roll in, you should find some time on a weekend before your final exams hit to sit down and get your tax papers together.
As students with presumably low incomes, we are entitled to a ton of deductions. In fact, if you aren’t getting a refund as a student, you are either filthy rich or you are missing some deductions. So we’ve prepared 6 Tax Tips for the Stressed Out Student to help you wrap your head around the dreaded tax season (Really, compared to this punishing winter season, tax season is a vacation!) Go here: http://www.guelphcampus.coop/documents/6-tax-tips.pdf
I’ve included a list of common deductions for students, and other useful tips to help you file and collect. It’s really not so bad. Check out the free guide in the Documents section.
Happy filing!
